Adiposs wins Best Project award at BioInnovation day 2018

The 8th edition of BioInnovation Day took place on 15 November 2018 at Geneva’s Life Sciences Hub Campus Biotech, providing an opportunity for researchers, scientist-entrepreneurs and early-stage start-up ventures to pitch their projects to an audience of peers, investors and industry representatives.

BioInnovation Day 2018 featured 36 project pitches by academic researchers from University of Geneva, HUG, University of Lausanne, CHUV, EPFL and start-ups from Western Switzerland grouped in 4 thematic sessions: Bioengineering, Medical Devices, Therapeutics and Diagnostics.

Dr. Andrej Babic from Adiposs received the Best Project Award, sponsored by the Federal Institute for Intellectual Property, for ImageBAT, a CT contrast agent for imaging of brown fat.

The Audience Award, sponsored by Venturelab, went to Dr. Ferran Galan from the Medical Faculty of the University of Geneva who presented his project Xmotion, which is a chin-worn medical device allowing severely paralysed patients to control a robot arm to assist them in their everyday activities. 

The BioInnovation Start-up Prize went to the UNIGE start-up ABCDx S.A. which develops a rapid blood-based point-of care diagnostic for brain injury after head trauma. 

Last, the BioInnovation Incubator Prize went to Dr. Giovanna Dipasquale whose goal is to develop 3D printed shells to improve positioning of breast cancer patients for radiotherapy.
